Chatterbox Stories of Natural History
An 1880 American children's natural history, published by R. Worthington from the pages of the Chatterbox annual and illustrated throughout. Nearly a hundred short pieces introduce one creature at a time — the zebra and her young, Mrs. Bruin and family, little owls, the aurochs, the kangaroo, the peacock, the sea lion, the chamois, the beaver, the lynx, the giraffe, the pelican — mixed with anecdotes of clever animals in domestic life, among them a cow that works a pump, a dog of St. Bernard, carrier pigeons and a brave cockatoo. The pictures come from scans held by the International Children's Digital Library.
