A halfpenny chapbook of the old rhyme, printed at 12 Webber Street. Tom, the piper's son, learned to play when he was young and knew exactly one tune — Over the Hills and Far Away — with which he delighted every child in the village. Then he stole a pig, the pig was eaten, Tom was beaten, and Tom ran roaring down the street. The rest of the book is Tom loose with a second tune, The Cow that Jumped over the Moon, setting cattle prancing, pigs dancing, a donkey free of its load, a milkmaid running, Dame Trot's eggs sadly broken, and the parson piped into a very dirty place.
