Fun and Nonsense

by Willard Bonte

1941 · Children's poetry, Nursery rhymes, Nonsense verses, Children's Picture Books · 1 chapters

Willard Bonte's book of comic verse for children, in which the household and the pantry come to life and behave badly. Chocolate Drop the Barber engages a stick of peppermint as his barber pole; Lady Cracker scorns Judge Wafer's passions on the grounds that he is lacking in dough; the Whitewash Brush gives up combing hair that will not lie flat; a lettuce loses his head and so loses his way; Old Mr. Match scratches his head, lights up and lengthens the day a while. Each rhyme turns on a single pun and comes with its own illustration by the author.
