The Adventures of the Little Woman, Her Dog and the Pedlar
A chapbook from Marks's Edition, printed in London by S. Marks and Sons, telling the old rhyme of the little woman who went to market to sell her eggs. She falls asleep on the King's highway; a pedlar named Stout cuts her petticoats off round about, up to her knees; and when she wakes and begins to shiver she can no longer be certain she is herself. If this be I, she reasons, my little dog at home will know me and wag his tail — and the dog barks. Each verse has its own engraving, and a short section of other poetry follows.
