The Crooked Man and Other Rhymes
A volume of Aunt Mary's Little Series from McLoughlin Brothers, gathering short nursery rhymes with a woodcut apiece. The crooked man walks his crooked mile and finds his crooked sixpence; Little Tommy Grace has a pain in his face until Dicky Long sings him better; a dog and a cat set out to visit friends out of town and debate the weather under one obliging umbrella; Billy Smart loads his cart by the side of the road and is happy if nobody teases him. Jack jumps over the candlestick, the mouse runs up the clock, and the dogs bark as the beggars come to town.
