1814 · Nursery rhymes, Shoemakers -- Juvenile poetry, Dinners and dining -- Juvenile poetry, Children's Picture Books · 2 chapters

An illustrated chapbook from Morgan & Yeager's juvenile bookstore in Philadelphia, thirty-one cents coloured and eighteen plain. Near the sign of the Bell live Jobson the cobbler and his wife Nell, and they agree very well, for he is a funny old blade — until the whiskey gets into his noddle and he would rather kick up a dust than mend anyone's shoes. The parson's Sunday shoes go undone, the congregation goes unprayed for, Nell goes without her dinner, and the humorous engravings follow the consequences through to a reckoning between cobbler, wife and parson.
