Walter Crane's Painting Book: Containing twelve coloured and twelve outline full-page plates
A painting book from George Routledge & Sons, engraved and printed in colours by Edmund Evans. Twelve full-page plates are given twice over — once finished in Crane's colour and once in outline — so that a child can copy the original alongside their own. The subjects are the rhymes and fables Crane returned to all his life: The Peacock's Complaint, who went to Juno because he had not the nightingale's song and was told to be content with his having and hold his fool's tongue; Jack and Jill; I Saw Three Ships; How Does My Lady's Garden Grow; and Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.
